Wow! It’s been long time since I’ve posted on this site. We’ve added a second baby to the family mix and that has definitely been an exciting addition. The little guy is about a year and a half now and I’m feeling like it’s time to get back to doing more things for me.
One of those things is to start organizing and sorting everything to reopen my two shops. It feels good to get back into things! Here’s a glance at some of the fun things going on behind the scenes.
First, things first: adding some more flavor to my work space. Here’s how things were originally.
Then I got a new work table, increasing my work space significantly. Woo!
Then, a few months back, I finally got around to putting up a gallery wall of my creative and fun pictures. These are pieces of artwork that I love and it gives the room some pop and energy. It really came together nicely!
After that, I reorganized my cabinets and put things all together along one wall. Here’s how things stand now:
All the changes have created a much better flow with the room and my work space. So ready to get moving with things!
Wherever I’ve ever lived, it’s seemed that there’s one room in the house that’s always the last to get some decorating love. It’s the room you secretly sort of hate, but haven’t gotten around to doing much about… yeah, in my house right now, that room would be my work space. It’s on the lowest level of the house and I don’t spend a lot of time thinking about it. I’ve managed to make it functional in the last six months (since moving), but beautiful? Not so much. Honestly, it’s barely even organized. So, this being the New Year and all that, I decided to make some changes.
One day there WILL be a work table in there, and that will help greatly with organization and, by extension, the aesthetics as well. But, in the meantime I’ve been making some improvements with using the wall space around my desk.
Functional, yes. But lovely it is not.
So, I added a few minor touches and I think it connects the space a little better:
Back, before the move, I had some drying lines and I’ve missed them greatly so I’m very excited to have them again. Also, that little crate-shelf is perfect for adding more color and personalization into my space. This room is definitely a work in progress.. I have grand plans to do a gallery-wall of artwork and photographs above the lines, maybe paint the walls something a little more cheery.. curtains too, perhaps? But that’ll all be a while coming. Still, it feels great to have a little more order in my work space!
One of my goals this year was to increase my inventory and I have definitely achieved that goal!
To help get there, I bought a whole lotta onesies in order to have a ready surplus to draw from, saving me gas and time in frequent trips to my local store for supplies. To help me keep track of how many I had in each size that I keep on hand, I set up a multi-drawer shelf thing (yep, that’s a technical term):
As to the completed tees, up until today, they have all been kept in an over-sized drawer I dedicated to this purpose:
However, recently, I realized my inventory had pretty much maxed out this one drawer. Plus, when they’re all in this one drawer, they’re not very organized and I’m always having to dig through the nicely folded items. So, I decided that something more was needed.
Today I assembled another multi-drawered shelf thing to help organize my completed inventory. It’s going to be great!
